What is Pholu?
Pholu is a private memory vault for couples and families. It keeps photos, videos, voice notes and written entries in one searchable timeline, tagged by date, place, mood and the people who were there. There is no feed and no audience: the archive is yours and the people you share it with.
Is Pholu free?
Yes. Pholu Free keeps unlimited memories on your device, one personal space and ten AI requests a month, with no card needed. Pholu Pro and Pholu Family add encrypted cloud sync, more storage and shared family spaces, and are bought inside the app through Google Play.
Which devices does Pholu run on?
Android, free from Google Play. There is no iOS version: it has not been started and is not scheduled. Desktop apps for macOS and Windows are planned and not yet started.
Are my memories encrypted?
Memories are encrypted before being stored or transmitted remotely, with keys derived on your device from your password and recovery phrase. Pholu's servers never see those keys. On your device, decrypted data may be stored inside Pholu's private app storage and is protected by the security of your device and operating system.
Does Pholu work without a connection?
Yes. Pholu is local-first, so a memory is written to your device the moment you save it and the whole timeline works offline. Cloud sync is a paid feature you switch on, not something the app needs to function.
Can my family share one archive?
Yes. A family space can be shared with a partner, your children or your grandparents, and everyone adds their own version of the same afternoon. Each member keeps their own account and their own keys, and a memory reaches a shared space only because somebody sent it there.
Can the AI assistant read everything I have saved?
The search that finds relevant memories runs on your device. Only the passages it selected are sent to answer the question, through Pholu's own backend rather than straight to a model provider, and your content is never used to train models. Every answer names the memories it came from, so you can open them and check.
Can I get my memories back out?
Yes. Full data export is available on every plan, including the free one. Nothing you put into Pholu is locked inside it.
